Bethel Junior School

Bethel Junior School offers early years education to vulnerable and very needy kids in Nyalenda Slum Community, Kisumu County, Kenya.
These gifted little angels come from very poor families that struggle to eke a living around Kisumu City. Most of these families lack in food, clothes and decent shelter; and these kids would otherwise miss early years education because of these odds.
On daily basis, we teach these toddlers to read and write, enable a child friendly environment for peer learning through play and songs to gaze and imagine all the great things they want to become and do. We also provide them porridge and lunch every day to enable them play, learn and grow.
Every end of the year, around November we host a small graduation for the Grade 1 ready cohort and assist them transition with a starter kit (set of uniform, school bag, shoes, books and pens) to go with.
It is worth saying, we also receive numerous requests for new students during December and January, but due to limited capacity, the requests are put through thorough vetting by our grassroot education panel, so that we can benefit the neediest.
To what end; we are impacting the destinies of these children, who would otherwise languish in poverty and hopelessness hence change the face of our community through education.
